Let’s get performing
It’s back by popular demand! Our scene workshop and coffee shop performance was such a success we’re doing it again. This is a fun, rigorous, and fast paced workshop where you’ll learn multiple songs with choreography that culminates into a “coffee house” style performance for family and friends.
Before the workshop even begins you’ll be put into a group and given music to start learning. During each workshop we’ll focus on practicing technique, expression, and choreography to put together multiple musical numbers from various classical musicals and operetta's.

Things to Know
In this workshop you will be assigned a group scene from either an opera and musical. This Each scene may last up to ten minutes and will include multiple people per scene. This workshop requires pre-workshop work as you will be assigned your scene prior to the start date.
PREREQUISITE: We recommend that you take our Vocal Technique shop before attending our scenes workshop or have at least one year of singing experience in a choir, musical theatre troupe, or other group singing experience. (karaoke or singing in your shower don’t count.)
PRIOR TO THE WORKSHOP
You’ll be assigned a group scene and a particular character from either an opera, musical or both. This scene will be emailed to you a few days prior to the start of the workshop and you will be asked to start memorizing your part as quickly as possible. That way workshop evenings can be used to focus on movement, expression, and play between characters.
MONDAY EVENINGS
Each Monday evening you’ll spend time observing as well as rehearsing your scenes. Observation is just as beneficial as getting your own feedback because you can learn from others and then apply what you learn. When it’s your turn to practice, you’ll be given specific critiques to help you improve as a singer and actor.
open dress rehearsal
Here we will run the performances in order as if it were the real show with costumes and all. It’ll even be open to the public to come watch. The only difference is, since it’s a rehearsal, there may be some starting and stopping. Feel free to invite friends and family who can’t make it Saturday to come watch during this rehearsal time. There will be suggested donation of $1.
coffee house performance @ 2pm
We’ll run all the scenes in true performance fashion. You’ll wear costumes, have an audience, and experience the thrill of live performance. Tickets cost $5 and include a cup of coffee and a scone. Any refills or extra scones are an additional cost.
