We exist to provide adults who love to sing, have fun and challenge themselves as we make music together!

CONCERTS

TCC has two formal concerts a year: one in the spring and one in the winter. The spring concert varies in themes such as "A Night at the Movies" to "Songs of the American West" to "Music that Moves Us." In the winter we have our Holiday Concert with all varieties of holiday music. We also participate in the Thornton Winter Fest.

FUNDRAISING

As a nonprofit chorus we rely on the generous support of our patrons through fundraisers and events. Some of our fundraisers each year include: a cabaret performance, bake sale, pancake breakfast at Applebee’s, and a silent auction.

Throughout the choral season, TCC takes the opportunity to provide music to those who may not be able to go out on the town. We have been privileged to sing at many assisted living and retirement homes. TCC has also booked singing events at Thornton’s Mother’s Day Tea and The Colorado Country Christmas Craft Show. Kawika Berthelette has served as the Conductor of the Thornton Community Chorus since the 2018-19 season, earning the position after guest conducting during the 2017-18 season. Mr. Berthelette has had the honor of directing the Denver Public Schools Elementary Citywide HonorChoir in 2019.Since 2015 he has been serving the students of Kaiser Elementary as a general music teacher.Mr. Berthelette has also served in this capacity at McKinnley-Thatcher Elementary (2016-2017) and Barrett Elementary (2015-2016).From 2012-2015he was the Director of Bands at Adams City Middle School. Mr. Berthelette’s career also includes guest conducting the Brighton Music Festival Orchestra, where he conducted his original compositions, “Reflection,” and “The Fallen.” Mr. Berthelette received his bachelor’s degree in Music Education (K-12) from Colorado State University.

Daniel Palm was born and raised in Colorado. He was told that after seeing him ride around the driveway in his pedal car, singing "Jesus Loves Me", his parents decided that it was his destiny to become a musician.

Daniel began taking Piano lessons at the age of five and learned to read music before he learned to read words. In his teens Daniel entered and placed in a number of Kiwanis Stars of Tomorrow competitions, one of which enabled him to perform on television. Daniel enjoys all kinds of music, but particularly those that challenge his mind and ability, adventures in uncharted valleys and mountaintops.

In addition to piano, Daniel also play the organ, French horn and trumpet. He also enjoys singing. One of his greatest passions in life is serving as an accompanist, whether for a soloist or congregation, striving to do so in such a way that whoever he is accompanying feels comfortable, being able to take possession of the piece, making it their own. Daniel’s greatest joy is a job completed and well done, and if he has helped someone in the process, he considers that to be a bonus.

Frank Newton is the founder of TCC and continues to support the chorus by attending every function and consulting for the board. May of 2022, Frank received recognition from the City of Thornton’s City Council and Thornton Arts Sciences & Humanities Council for his dedication and loyal service to TASCHO. Frank’s leadership and vision have been an integral part of TCC.

Frank’s passion for music began with his own music education as a youth, as a music educator, theater production and now to community arts and culture ventures such as TASCHO, Thornton Community Band and, of course, TCC.

We are sad to share the news that Frank passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

Throughout his life, Frank was dedicated to his family and his community in so many ways. Whether 2-stepping with his wife, sitting through the many rock band performances of his sons, cheering on his grandkids, or starting a city-wide arts and humanities organization, the legacy he left will be present in ways big and small for decades to come.

Frank had so many circles. To everyone in TASHCO, the TCC, the TCB, the CVA, the Mapleton/Highland/Skyview alumni, everyone from Lodge, anyone who ever heard "The 3 Tenors" perform or ever saw or were a part of one of his productions, anyone he ever taught, and anyone he conducted, you are linked together as parts of his circles. Joining you are all the people he brought together through his love of family, and who loved him so deeply for being the kind, patient, and passionate man that he was; he truly inspired others to be better.

Words will never describe the whole of a person, but when we were thinking of how we wanted to tell people about WHO Frank is, some words that came to mind were: husband, father, grandfather, family, brother, cousin, uncle, friend, neighbor, community, The Valley, Thornton, musician, tenor, conductor, gardener, tinkerer, builder, vanner, educator, contributor, mentor, leader, wordsmith, student, tenacious reader, rapier wit, storyteller, and giant.
