JOSHUAH MAYNARD is a composer studying at CU Boulder and a Colorado native. "Azure Skies" is a piece written about Colorado -- its incredible scenery, its hidden little places, and its loving people. Inspired by "America the Beautiful," penned by Katharine Lee Bates as she looked out upon Colorado's natural beauty atop Pikes Peak, "Azure Skies" is considered by Maynard to be his own "Colorado the Beautiful."
Where the Columbines Grow
JEREMY NEWTON (arranged by): "Where the Columbines Grow" is Colorado's official state song, yet it is seldom performed and no suitable choral arrangement exists. My arrangement is in the style of an old-fashioned part song so that it can be sung a cappella or with simple piano accompaniment; ultimately, the attention is drawn to the rich, beautiful choral harmonies. It is my hope that this arrangement of a once beloved song can breathe new life into a lost part of the history of the great state of Colorado.
